AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE
Australian National Theatre Live was formed in 2010 when actor Grant Dodwell, actor/producer/writer Raj Sidhu and veteran film & TV producer Peter Hiscock banded together to film, produce and distribute high quality theatre to venues around rural and regional Australia.
Their inaugural production was Geoffrey Atherden’s Liberty Equality Fraternity, recorded at the Ensemble Theatre in Kirribilli and screened for the first time in Caloundra, QLD, where it was enthusiastically received, “…because not all of us can get to Sydney and Melbourne.” This was precisely the response the trio was hoping for. Since then, other filmed productions have included:
David Williamson’s Emerald City - the esteemed playwright’s brilliant comedy has been described as, “part love-letter, part hate mail to the harbour city.” It wittily captures the rambunctious spirit of Sydney in the 1980s;
Rumpelstiltskin - starring the multi-talented performer Paul Capsis in the Windmill Theatre Company’s cautionary tale about the ultimate price of greed;
The Wharf Revue - a side-splitting satirical show celebrating 15 years of Australian politics, featuring Amanda Bishop, Jonathan Biggins, Drew Forsythe and Phillip Scott;
The Dapto Chaser - a comedy about the cut-throat world of greyhound racing, by Mary Rachel Brown. Soon to be released.
